You Only Need Two Books, This is One of Them June 2, 2009 Roger McShane 139 out of 142 found this review helpful
I bought five books when I was thinking about growing and this book was by far the easiest to get into and understand what I was getting myself into. Its really like a "Dummies" book that patiently explains how the plant grows, the difference between male and female, difference between Indica and Sativa, which is all great fundamental information. Then is explains all the equipment you'll need to buy for a small or medium grow and then the majority of the book is dedicated to the phases of growth. Two huge sections of photos and lots of simple illustrations throughout.
The other book that I'm glad I bought is Marijuana Horticulture: The Indoor/Outdoor Medical Grower's Bible. It was not a particularly useful guide in learning how to grow, but it's the best reference book/resource by a long stretch. I'm not sure I could have made as much sense out of it without the Grow Great Marijuana book, but it has a lot of valuable information that I constantly refer to when I feel like I don't know what I'm doing.
Both books are highly recommended, especially if you are just starting out or just thinking about getting into growing.
I am beyond happy with this book! January 12, 2007 R. Laidley (Denver, CO) 84 out of 84 found this review helpful
I wasn't expecting this book to ammount to this much, but it did suprise me quite a bit. As I read through I had found so many new methods that put one of the largest grins on my face ever. The high definition pictures (besides making you drool) gave me much insight as to what I can expect to procure. Even though this is labled as a beginners book, it will walk you through exactly what you need to do, and what you need to know. It felt like being showed how to do basic algebra, and before you know it, you've learned all that and you know some advanced physics. I would highly recommend this book to ANYONE who wishes to start growing the greatest of all plants.
peace and love,
rob
Great beginners book! October 7, 2006 John Jacobs (Vermont) 85 out of 88 found this review helpful
If you don't know what you're doing, start by reading this book.
I got the top three marijuana growing books on Amazon and this one was the easiest to read and understand. I'm not sure if it's the most advanced or not because I'm just not there yet, but I read two books cover to cover and the other was a reference book and somewhat difficult to read, but it was useful. This is basically a Dummies book and it's just what I needed since I wanted to grow, but didn't know the first thing about the plant or how to grow anything.
This book was like having a friend hold my hand and answer my questions about how the plant grows, how hydroponics systems work, where I should grow and what to consider when buying all of the indoor equipment.
The first part covers the basics, the middle covered all the equipment, and the last third covers the actual grow, including how to get seeds and how to harvest. It progresses through everything just like I was progressing through the learning, the buying, the growing, and the harvesting.
I'm not gonna knock the other books because they're all pretty good and I'm sure I will get a lot out of the reference book in the future. If you're like me and you don't really know what you're doing, you'll be happy to know that there is a book that makes it as simple as possible to learn and get started.
I just noticed that there is a Search Inside for this one, so I highly recommend checking it out to see if this one seems as easy to understand as the rest. I didn't have that when I bought Grow Great Marijuana, but I'm really glad this book was as easy as it was to read and "get". So check out the Search Inside and you'll totally see the Dummies look and feel.
Anyway, I'm glad this book exists and most newbies will agree that it's super simple, but seems to cover everything you need to know.
Not a "Bible", thankfully... August 16, 2006 Burner 21 out of 22 found this review helpful
Some of the other books consider themselves the grower's bible. This book doesn't make that claim, instead it's more of a How-To book that holds your hand through all the things you need to do in order to grow marijuana. From picking the room, buying the equipment, to the actual grow, it's mean to teach newbies all the basics, plus a few advanced techniques like SoG and ScrOG. The bibles are great if you just want to look up something, but if you want to actually learn from beginning to end how to grow and harvest, this is your book.
A Fantastic Book June 16, 2009 E. L. Shepherd (Sanford, FL) 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
I normally don't write a review for "these types" of books for obvious reasons. But having said that, if you were to read only one book on the subject, this would be it. There are a few books that would be considered more specialized and go into more detail about individual subjects, but this one covers it all in enough detail that again, if you only read one book on the subject, this one is it. I think it was absolutely fantastic and I literally read every page.
